Streambox Rackmount encoders support, along with video data, capture, encoding and transmission of Ancillary data, also known as V-ANC (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancillary_data). For example, closed captions and SCTE-104 ad/event triggers are supported via V-ANC.
On the receiving side, Streambox Rackmount decoders can output V-ANC information in HD-SDI format. However, some downstream equipment might require data to be mapped to specific V-ANC lines.
Enable VANC on the HD Rackmount or Software Encoder, in the Video menu. Additionally, Enable VANC on the Decoder in the Output menu. It may also be shown as "VANC (10 bit)" as shown below.
The new Streambox Decoder, version 3.164.12, and new Web UI allows the user to assign a specific data type to a specific V-ANC line using packet identifier DID (Data IDentifier).
For example, in the screenshot below, Closed Caption (packet DID 161) is mapped to video line 9 and SCTE-104 (packet DID 241) is mapped to line 13. Up to 3 different packet types can be assigned.
Note: traditionally, DID (Data Identifier word) is represented as a hexadecimal number. The decoder will perform automatic V-ANC data placement if the DID is zero.
